From: Sumba Age: about 1950 Sumba Island weaving has been popular for over a century. Bold motif textiles, many using life forms, are the norm for Sumba weavings this sarong shows that very well, except this is a rare all beaded sarong - no shells. The black color is from repeated dying with indigo. The beads are mostly hand made. A " Lau Hada " is a tube type sarong so there are 2 visual areas. |
